Customer Review: I finally found it!
I’ve been doing yoga for about 11 years, and this was one of my first tapes. It was challenging at the time, but even when I was doing yoga every day for months, I still found it very rewarding and never boring. This tape and I have been through a lot.

I’ve bought perhaps a half-dozen other yoga videos and never even watched them more than a couple times, always preferring this one. In high school, I let someone borrow it and never saw it again. Luckily, though, I had dubbed an audio recording of it, and could then practice anywhere I could bring a portable stereo. And I did.

Through college, and several subsequent moves, I always practiced with that old ratty tape. After being pregnant with my first child, I was ecstatic to find it again, and begin practicing again, but it was too old and crumpled to be used anymore. Unfortunately, it had been ages since I’d seen the original VHS tape, and couldn’t remember what it was called or even the names of the people involved.

But here it is, after just a short search. (I would have bought another copy years ago if I’d known it was going to be that easy!) It must be a pretty popular item to be so easy to find with a generic ‘yoga’ search on Yahoo. It’s absolutely worth every penny, I wish I had it right now.

Customer Review: Good workout / no breaks!
I’ve tried so many exercise tapes, including yoga tapes, over the years and this is actually one of the better, less-obnoxious ones. It’s a fairly tough workout but is very well-explained throughout, has no goofy music, narration or ugly sets getting in the way. The biggest problem with this - and it was a big one for me - is that the tape goes logically from a less to more strenuous workout but, at 70 minutes total, there is no clear way to break the workout up. Other tapes will maybe put 3 20-minute workouts on one, so that you can do one, two or all three workouts and customize it for yourself. Not the case with this one, and that’s a pain. What it means is, if you don’t have over an hour to workout, you will have to just stop the tape, interrupting any sort of flow and progression. Frustrating!

I have owned this video for a while now, and I feel it is absolutely priceless. I have watched it many times and still do. As you progress as a golfer you will pick up more things from the video that you did not feel before. Just the slow motion of Jack Nicklaus not far from his prime make the video worth it. The slow motion segments are priceless.You can learn more from just watching him over and over and absorbing it, than you could from a thousand books. Jack, would you remaster it and put it on DVD? Please? I would be the first to buy it and add it to my collection and continue to watch it!!!

This is his full comprehensive video on the actual technique of hitting the golf ball. This is also made availabe as three seperate shorter videos breaking it down to 1)the full swing, 2)the short game, and 3)the control shots. This video contains all of that footage plus the deleted footage for each section on what not to do.

There is a second video produced a little later which is called “Golf My Way:Playing the Game”, which is also a full length video, but covers in detail the aspects of thinking and planning your way around the golf course, which was one of Jack’s truly great strenghths.

This stuff is always current and truly timeless. Applying this cannot but help your game.

I love this heating pad. It’s the best I’ve ever had, and I will buy a second one for my place at the couch. I keep the one I have in my bed. I find that I never need to set it above the middle setting. Otherwise it would be too hot for me. The auto shut off is a great feature, so I don’t have to worry if I fall asleep with it. I have no trouble with it being slow to heat up like some of the other reviews talk about. Absolutely flawless performance, pleasant, soft, pliable and nice to use, in my opinion.

I bought the ripstik for my grandson’s 11th birthday in November. I wasn’t sure exactly how it worked, until I took it out of the box. When I saw it, I was terrified! I just knew that this was above him in skills. He’s beginning to use a skate board, so I didn’t think he couldn’t use this ripstick. However, it was close to his birthday and I knew he wanted it and I gave it. It took him about 30 minutes to learn how to use it and he LOVES it. He’s on it daily. He’s not a pro yet, but is doing great. I thought it would just be too hard for him to control, but NOT. Guess that’s youth for you. I do recommend it. I didn’t like the fact though, that on the box, it clearly shows a YOUNG child using it, but the inside directions say not for FIVE or under.

This is as good as chick-flick network televsion gets. Desperate Housewives, Season 3 retains the fun-yet-creepy plot-driven spirit of the earlier seasons. Just bought this old tape cheap and it’s a hoot. It’s so hokey, it’s fun. This was one of the first Walk Away the Pounds videos I bought and I still find it (months later) to be useful & fun to do. I prefer to walk outside but with winter coming, I need to do something else that will not hurt my knees with a lot of lunges & difficult dance-like moves. I enjoy the quick pace, the distance meter & the ongoing encouragement - I tune it out sometimes but usually I find it takes my mind off the time. I have since bought several other, longer videos to vary the workout routines but I recommend this video as well as the 3-mile for a good, strong workout. I have never found an aerobic workout to benefit my weight loss goals but this program seems to be the exception. I am looking forward to trying more of Leslie’s videos this winter!

Why You Need FRS
One of the top theories about why the body ages— and why you feel tired, worn-out or foggy headed — involves tiny molecules known as free radicals, which are created as a natural result of any metabolic activity. For example, after you jog a mile, free radicals circulate in the body. Even non-exercise activities, such as working at a computer, generate free radicals. Fiber is the part of the plant that is resistant to hydrolysis (A chemical decomposition in which a substance is split into simpler compounds by the addition or the taking up of the elements of water) by human digestive enzymes and, with the exception of lignin, fibers are complex carbohydrates. These include pectin, gums, mucilages, hemicellulose, polysaccharides cellulose, and nonpolysaccharide lignins. Fibers are water-soluble except cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin, all of which form part of cell walls. Soluble fibers are sticky and combine with water to form gel-like substances. Pectin is a water-soluble fiber found in soft fruits and vegetables. Gums that are common food additives are also water-soluble, found in stems and seeds of some tropical plants. In general, fruits are higher in pectin and vegetables are higher in cellulose. Although cellulose and hemicellulose are not hydrolyzed, intestinal bacterial can digest some fiber to produce lipid fragments known as short-chain fatty acids. These fatty acids are absorbed in the colon and yield energy when metabolized.

Water Insoluble fibers pass through the gastrointestinal track unchanged, absorbing up to 15 times their weight, important since they provide the digestive tract with ‘bulk’ that helps facilitate food through the intestines to be evacuated as solid waste; hence, fiber often is called “nature’s natural laxative”. Cellulose’s ability to absorb water produces softer stools and regular bowel movements. Also, insoluble fiber may prevent colon and rectal cancer and help to control diverticulosis (A sac or pouch in the walls of a canal or organ [e.g., GI tract] that becomes inflamed and causes pain and stagnation of feces. Water-soluble fiber, as found in beans, fruit, and oat bran lowers cholesterol by binding to the cholesterol found in liver bile, to help control diabetes.

Overall, dietary fiber does not provide much nourishment to the human diet because of the inability to break down these carb sources for energy, yet reduces available kcalories by providing a sense of satiety and by absorbing some nutrients including fat. However, fiber also absorbs and eliminates essential fatty acids, food substances that are essential for good health and energy metabolism.

Also, dietary fiber may be a detoxifier since it binds with some toxic substances before elimination. But a diet extremely high in fiber is not a good idea since it impairs calcium, iron, and zinc absorption in the intestine.

Increasing fiber should be a gradual process since the majority of fiber products may cause unpleasant bloating, cramps, gas, and other symptoms - especially if they are eaten in large amounts at once. It is best to add one high fiber food at each eating session to judge whether the food causes symptoms or not. For instance, some people who have problems with brown rice may not have problems with apples, oatmeal, whole wheat bread, or other sources of similar fiber.

Many nutrition authorities estimate that 20-35 grams of fiber daily is a desirable intake for the average individual. Note that the amount of nutrients can vary in wheat products since the refining of grains remove part of the seed (e.g., bran, endosperm, and germ). Here are some fiber-rich sources:

1 potato with skin: 2.5 g
1 slice whole wheat bread: 2.8 g

I know that taste is a personal thing, but I should have never strayed from my trusty orange-flavored Airborne! This apple-cider version, which you are to prepare with hot water, has such a terrible taste that I can’t even use it! I can’t imagine anyone would like it. It’s supposed to be a night-time formula that helps you sleep, but I honestly don’t know if that works because I can’t bring myself to choke down a whole mug-full of it. I don’t know what they were thinking when they came up with this flavor, but it is repellent! I agree with the PP who recommended sticking with the orange or lemon-lime. Too bad, because I really like Airborne as a product, and was hoping for the best with this one.

Did you know that some fats are essential to the body? Yes, there are some fats that our body cannot produce which means that we must get them from our food. Perhaps you’ve heard of omega-3 fatty acids and omega-6 fatty acids. These are both considered essential and must be supplied by the foods we eat.

What do they do? Well, the omega-3 fatty acid, for example is used for the production of healthy cell membranes and for the production of a class of hormones called prostaglandins. You know how aspirin and acetominophen are anti-inflammatories? So are the prostaglandins that our bodies produce from omega-3 fatty acids.

Now, we need the omega-3’s and the omega-6’s to be in the proper combination to be most effective to us. Empirical evidence shows that the proper ratio is about 4:1 between omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids. What do you suppose our average diet gives us? About a 20:1 and up to a 40:1 ratio; not even close to the optimal ratio.

Why is the balance so out of whack? Well, our normal diets are rich in omega-6 fatty acids. We get them from meats, dairy products, and processed foods. We eat a lot of those foods on average. We get omega-3 fatty acids from certain vegetable oils such as flaxseed, canola, and soybean. And we get omega-3 fatty acids from cold-water fish such as mackerel, sardines, salmon, and tuna.

Eat more fish! You’ve heard that said before, and now you know why.

Especially the salmon. It is especially rich in the beneficial omega-3 fatty acids. Salmon , or any of the other omega-3 rich fish (but what tastes better than good salmon?) should be consumed at least once a week.

In order to get the omega-6 vs. omega-3 ratio in order, decrease your consumption of the saturated fat from meats and dairy products and increase your consumption of fish such as salmon.

Do you know how else you will benefit from increased consumption of omega-3 fatty acids? Your cholesterol level will improve. You see, the essential omega-3 fatty acids have the ability to help decrease your total cholesterol and your LDL cholesterol level. The LDL cholesterol is the so-called bad cholesterol. So you will improve your cholesterol levels by adding a better balance of omega-3 fatty acids to your diet.

Not surprisingly, the omega-3 fatty acids can be heart healthy. Several diseases show improvement when patients increase their intake of these essential fats. Check out Dr. Ray Strand’s important book for citings of clinical studies of omega-3. The book is titled, “What Your Doctor Doesn’t Know About Nutritional Medicine May Be Killing You.” It’s a wonderful book and should be a standard reference volume in your nutrition library.

Eat well, take appropriate supplements, and stay healthy.

I have taken a fairly recent interest in collecting Swiss Army Knives, and I keep coming back to this model as my favorite. It was the first one I bought six months ago and since then I’ve jumped to the One Hand Trekker (not really a Swiss Army Knife but still made by Victorinox) and the standard issue Soldier (great knife but severely limited by its small tool selection, I still carry it as a backup though) but I keep coming back to my Deluxe Tinker. Perfect mix of tools, have used everything except for the hook but I can see a few uses for it, such as picking up hot pots by the handle on camping trips. Always seems to be a tool on this thing for the situation at hand when I need to make a minor repair to something. The softer stainless steel of the blades is fairly easy to sharpen but dulls rather quickly with use. The blades are not meant for heavy duty work but are best suited for light chores such as opening packages and slicing fruit. There’s a hole behind the philip’s screwdriver that is meant to hold a straight pin although this is not mentioned anywhere in the paper that comes with the knife and it does not come with a straight pin. Highly useful addition to the knife, was able to pick the lock on my back door with the can opener’s mini-screwdriver tip and the straight pin when I locked myself out of the house.

The red plastic of the handle scratches very easily but don’t let that fool you, the metal parts of this knife are very durable. Mine is lovingly covered in scratches just from carrying it in my pocket every day since I got it but everything still works fine. You won’t regret buying this knife and carrying it every day. With a little creativity you can do some amazing things with it and it can get you out of some sticky situations.

Buy this, you will love it. It’s great for sporting events. Great convenient size and works well. For the price I wasn’t expecting too much, but wanted it for Super Bowl weekend. Surprisingly this is a very nice crockpot. Easy to clean and works well.
